In the UK, the gambling industry has been warned by Government Ministers that it has less than a month to establish a voluntary system to fund the Responsibility in Gambling Trust (RIGT) or it will be forced to pay a statutory levy. Cairns, Australia - November 14, 2007: The Australasian Gaming Machine Manufacturers Association ("AGMMA") today launched its new "Responsible Gaming Machine Play" leaflet, providing free, independent and accurate information about gaming machines in a simple and easy to understand format to assist players to make informed decisions.

A new responsible gaming policy unveiled by Premier Shawn Graham and Finance Minister Victor Boudreau focuses on responsible management and responsible play, in a responsible environment. The new policy, the most comprehensive of its kind ever introduced in the province, will bring transformational changes to gaming in New Brunswick. Graham said there were many issues considered leading to today’s announcement.

The gambling industry has been forced to establish a new body to draw up a voluntary code for socially responsible advertising, weeks before the Gambling Act 2005 comes into force. The group will monitor the code, adding to the plethora of different bodies, including the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), already regulating the industry. Members will be drawn from representatives of a number of gambling associations.
