Minister of Environment, Cristina Narbona, affirmed that “no decision has been taken” on the position that its ministry will adopt on the Gran Scala project, in order to build the second biggest casino complex worldwide in Los Monegros. Narbona indicated that nowadays she even “does not know” where will it be located or if the water that will be required for the complex will replace the one that currently is used for the irrigation system.

International Leisure Development (ILD), the group of companies that promotes the casino mega complex and theme parks Gran Scala, aims to sign agreements with operators during the second and third stage of the project, once it starts operating the first one, whose construction is planned to start at the beginning of 2009. Sources of the company explained that contacts to start the first phase are in advanced stages.

International Leisure Development (ILD) aims to inaugurate mega-complex Gran Scala in October 2010 with a first phase of developments. According to sources of the project, figures indicate that, on that date, twelve casino hotels and twenty hotels will be operating. In a second phase, six to twelve months later, a second theme park should be built, called Aquántica and promoted by the same group of fifteen firms called Spyland.
