POSTIDENT Auto-Ident for online identity verification via the Deutsche Post identification platform

The POSTIDENT AutoID service utilises the Deutsche Post identification platform to confirm the details of an online registration.

Due to the associated costs, the POSTIDENT variants serve our customers as an alternative if the SCHUFA process, Open Banking or other VideoIdent methods are unsuccessful.

Transactions are billed via your contract with Deutsche Post.

After registration, the auto-identification process is initiated within the POSTIDENT app, which must be installed in advance:

  • Step 1: Recording the ID card information

    • Show the front and back of the ID card
    • The app automatically recognises the document and reads the necessary personal data
  • Step 2: Checking the security features

    • Tilt the ID document vertically and horizontally
    • Check the security features (including holographic features)
  • Step 3: Image comparison

    • Record a short video portrait (‘selfie video’)
    • Record the face and movements
    • Facial image comparison and check for manipulation
  • Conclusion: Delivery of results

    • Automatic verification using machine learning techniques
    • Quality control by service agents if necessary
    • Automatic transmission of the identification results to insic

As an alternative, Deutsche Post offers identification at a post office branch.

Users must meet the following requirements for the Auto-Ident procedure

  • Smartphone with iOS or Android
  • The POSTIDENT app must be installed in advance to carry out the identification process
  • Stable internet connection
  • German residence permits, international ID cards or passports are accepted in the process
