POSTIDENT online video identification via the Deutsche Post identification platform
The insic service POSTIDENT by video chat uses Deutsch Posts identification platform to confirm the details of an online registration.
For cost reasons, the POSTIDENT variants serve as a secondary procedure if other identification methods like SCHUFA, Open Banking or other VideoIdent methods are unsuccessful.
The transactions are billed through your contract with Deutsche Post.
After registration, the POSTIDENT process is started via Video chat within the POSTIDENT app, which needs to be installed beforehand:
- Start the identification process on your website
- Redirect the customer to the POSTIDENT portal
- Select POSTIDENT by Video chat as the identification method
- Enter or correct personal details and choose the appropriate ID document.
- Video chat
- A POSTIDENT call centre agent guides the customer securely through the process via webcam, verifies the ID information, and takes necessary photos.
- Provision of identification data
- The identification process is confirmed and completed by entering an SMS-TAN.
As an alternative, Deutsche Post also offers identification in person at a post office.

Users must meet the following requirements for the video chat procedure:
- iOS or Android smartphone
- POSTIDENT app installed for identification
- Stable internet connection
- Passport or ID card with holographic security feature
