The Dutch government is stepping up efforts to protect young players from problem gambling. Recent data shows a significant increase in addiction rates among young adults.

The Dutch Gaming Authority - Kansspelautoriteit - (KSA) is tasked with the regulation of gambling, it constantly monitors the sector and often takes action against licensed operators who breach the established rules.

The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has issued a weekly fine of €280,000 to Sarah Eternal for operating without a licence. The company had been offering games of chance on its website without holding the necessary licence.

Over the last few days, two unrelated but equally disruptive events have made waves in the Dutch gambling environment which could have notable repercussions in the near future and not only to the Netherlands gambling industry.
