Im Jahre 2004 wurde der Klub in der Clerkenwell Road von Derek Kelly eröffnet. Die Kartenklubs haben in Großbritannien eine lange Tradition und schnell gab es Tausende von Mitgliedern. Bereits im folgenden Jahr drohte jedoch schon die Schließung.

Macao's gaming revenue for 2008 is expected to see a double-digit increase, the total of which will reach 100 billion patacas (over 10 billion U.S. dollars), said Lau Pun Lap, member of the Legislative Assembly of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), on Saturday. He estimated that this year's gaming revenue growth will be lower than last year, but as industry development keeps its momentum, a double-digit increase can be sustained this year.

The voters of California are being asked to vote, once again, on Indian gaming. But unlike the prior two elections, the question is not whether tribes can have casinos. Rather, it is whether a few tribes may more than double their existing operations, creating some of the largest casinos in the world. The political players have also changed. California voters first approved tribal gaming at the general election on November 3, 1998.

After precincts in Alameda County ran out of ballots today, a judge ordered polling places with waiting voters to stay open until 10 p.m., the Alameda County Registrar of Voters said. An Alameda County Superior Court judge made the decision to remain open after several cities in the county - including Berkeley - had no real ballots for voters to use. Some voters used ballots that were paper copies of genuine ballots.

Internal market commissioner Charlie McCreevy has given Germany two months to respond to an official request for information explaining its new law banning all online gambling in order to see whether the ban falls foul of EU treaty provisions on the free movement of services. In a statement on Thursday (31 January), the commission noted that in Germany horse race betting on the Internet is not prohibited and advertising of games of chance by mail, in the press and on radio is still permitted.

The government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has no plan to revise its gaming tax nor it is considering the issue, said a senior official on Friday. Leading human rights lawyer Chris Sidoti says he has been appointed to oversee the new Casino, Liquor and Gaming Authority in New South Wales to help minimise the damage caused by gambling. The 5th American Congress of Gaming Regulators is to take place on 15 May in Monterrey, Mexico. It is held in conjunction with the ELA-2008 Latin-American Gaming Exhibition. Previous congresses were held in Panama, but on terminating the Sagse-Central American event, organised by Grupo de Inversiones Latinoamericanas de Juego, (GRP), it was decided that this important event should be held in Republic of Mexico.
