Gaming Global Player Novomatic AG announces new board of directors appointments

DI Ryszard Presch and Michael Baumgärtner new members of the board of directors of Novomatic AG



(Gumpoldskirchen ) Non-listed Novomatic AG of the Austrian gaming pioneer and corporate founder Johann F. Graf extends its board of directors: The existing sole member of the board of directors, Dr. Johannes Hahn, will become the new chairman of the board of the holding company of the world’s leading manufacturer of cutting-edge casino technology and operator of more than 30 casinos world-wide. Joining him on the board will be DI Ryszard Presch as vice-president and Michael Baumgärtner constituting a team with profound knowledge of the industry and international experience at the head of one of the largest integrated gaming corporations in the world.

DI Ryszard Presch (52) has for many years been managing director of the wholly-owned group subsidiary Austrian Gaming Industries (AGI), the world market leader in the realm of interactive live games, casino multi-player devices and slot machines in the high-tech segment. The foundation of the success of AGI with annual turnover growth rates well beyond the 30 percent mark is R&D investments of 10 percent of annual turnover to ensure continued market leadership.

Michael Baumgärtner (40) most recently managed the food company Felix Austria, which since 1995 belongs to the Norwegian Orkla Group. Mr Baumgärtner ended his sporting career following a sport injury to pursue a professional career in various marketing and sales positions at Procter&Gamble in Austria and in Germany, later at British American Tobacco (BAT) in Switzerland, China and England, until, following his commitment with Felix Austria he was invited to join the board of directors of Novomatic AG for his international business experience and contacts.

Novomatic AG and its Swiss sister company Admiral Casinos & Entertainment (ACE) comprise a great number of successful subsidiaries within the Novomatic Group of Companies, one of Austria´s renowned casino and entertainment suppliers to the global industry with casinos and holdings in more than 30 jurisdictions. With Admiral Sportwetten AG, which is listed on the stock exchange, and its more than 70 betting outlets the Group is also one of the market leaders in the Austrian betting business. In 2002, the Novomatic Group generated an annual turnover of some 280 million Euros and has a staff of approximately 2400 employees world-wide, providing job security for about 1000 employees in Austria. Additionally, Novomatic has contributed to position the international gaming industry on the cutting edge of high-technology, with the leading developments coming from the 5 manufacturing facilities of the Group in Gumpoldskirchen, Austria, where also the headquarters of the entire group is located.
