Next week, on Monday, October 16, the 2023 Gaming in Germany Conference will take place in Berlin.

If you don't want to miss it, there is only limited time left to register.

To help you make up your mind, we have listed five sessions you should not miss:

  1. Keynote by Benjamin Schwanke + follow-up dialogue with Birgitte Sand
Benjamin Schwanke, Co-Chair of German regulator GGL, will not only deliver the Conference's keynote speech, but his presentation will also be followed up with a dialogue between Mr. Schwanke and Birgitte Sand, former Executive Director of Danish gambling regulator, Spillemyndigheden. Thus, two (former) regulators will exchange observations and ideas regarding regulation, market oversight, and effective enforcement.

  2. IMGL Masterclass on the impact of Malta's Bill 55 on market regulation in Germany (and other EU member states)
Leading German gambling lawyers will discuss the impact of Malta's Bill 55 and the related proceedings for a preliminary ruling before the European Court of Justice in relation to Lottoland's online gambling offers. Will European law return to center stage in the regulation of online gambling in EU member states? These developments could have a profound impact, far beyond player claims against unlicensed operators in local markets.

  3. Lottery operators and virtual slots: A disruptive combination?
Could Germany's traditional lottery operators leverage their brand reputation into major gains in Germany's newly regulated virtual slots market? Georg Wacker, Managing Director of Toto-Lotto Baden-Württemberg; Frank Schwarz, Managing Director of Spielbanken Sachsen & Sachsenlotto; and Julian Tietz, Managing Director of ZEAL Instant Games, will discuss market potential and strategy.

  4. Sports integrity & unhelpful betting restrictions
Understandable concerns over sports integrity have led to significant restrictions in the regulated German sports betting market. But did German legislators, from a sports integrity perspective, opt for the most useful and effective restrictions? Local experts, including Andreas Krannich, Managing Director of Sportradar Integrity Services; Severin Moritzer, CEO of Play Fair Code; and Luka Andric, Managing Director at DSWV, will discuss alternative approaches.

  5. Responsible & effective affiliate marketing in the German market
A last-minute addition to our program, this session features an operator (Florian Werner, MD at DGGS), an affiliate (Dirk Makritzki, CEO of Eurostream), and a B2B provider (Christian Kleinsorge, CEO of Ingenious Technologies), who will discuss current affiliate marketing rules, effective affiliate marketing methods, and the importance of affiliate marketing for a healthy German iGaming sector.

In addition to the five sessions mentioned above, the 2023 Gaming in Germany Conference will feature a great number of additional speakers, including Pontus Lindwall, CEO of Betsson AB; Ed Birkin, Senior Analyst at H2 Gambling Capital; Eberhard Dürrschmid, CEO of Golden Whale Productions & founder of Greentube; and many others.
