Regulation of online gambling market offers major opportunities to Dutch start-ups and B2B suppliers

The opening of the regulated Dutch online gambling market on October 1 will not only allow Dutch consumers to legally gamble online for the first time ever but will also offer major opportunities to local suppliers and business start-ups. Established (international) suppliers and promising local initiatives will meet with prospective buyers in April at the Gaming in Holland Expo at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht convention center.

This Friday, on October 1, the first ten licensed online gambling operators enter the regulated Dutch online gambling market. This event will not only be noticeable to Dutch players and consumers, but will also bring new opportunities for local suppliers, tech start-ups, and supporting service providers.

“Looking at other newly regulated iGaming markets across Europe, we see, each time, that market regulation created a context and environment in which smart and innovative entrepreneurs were stimulated to develop products and services that later would have a major impact on the entire global gaming industry,” says Willem van Oort, founder of business community and B2B information portal Gaming in Holland.

World-class player protection

Consumer protection is a key element of the legislation that made the opening of the regulated Dutch online gambling market possible. Dutch regulations are expected to set a new European standard for the uniform protection of online and land-based players alike.
“Given the large focus on social responsibility in our country, it would not surprise me if new initiatives were to be launched in the areas of addiction prevention and player protection, helping to protect consumers,” Van Oort adds.

Gaming in Holland Expo

Van Oort: “Having been involved with Gaming in Holland and the international gambling industry for many years, I have come to realize that international platforms and events offer only limited exposure to our local heroes. In order to help remedy this situation, we have decided to launch the Gaming in Holland Expo, where providers of innovative products and services can present themselves to a larger audience.”

The Gaming in Holland Expo has been scheduled for April 2022 and takes place alongside the annual Gaming in Holland Conference. At this event, up to 50 exhibitors, a mix of emerging and established suppliers, will present themselves and their products to the Dutch gambling industry. “The top 5 international suppliers have already committed to being there,” Van Oort says. “We are absolutely aiming for a mix of established B2B providers, and local talent and initiatives.”

The Gaming in Holland Expo is aimed at decision makers, as well as tech companies, payment providers, media companies, affiliates, content and platform providers, and many more.

The event will focus exclusively on suppliers and other parties willing to be part of the regulated market and is supported by local trade associations and operators, including Holland Casino, Jack’s Casino, and Fair Play Casino.
