Vienna (Thomson Financial) – The Austrian online gaming company Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG has lodged a defamation lawsuit with a Paris court against the French tennis federation FFT, the Austrian news agency APA reports.

According to APA, Bwin has filed the complaint in reaction to statements by the FFT that the company poses ethical risks for the sport.

At the beginning of the year the FFT initiated legal proceedings to ban online betting for the Roland Garros Tournament (the French Open) and hopes to have a court ruling before the start of the tournament on May 25, according to APA.
