Century Casinos Reports Opening of New Casino Resort on Newcastle, South Africa

Colorado Springs, Colorado — Century Casinos, Inc. reported today that the Company celebrated the official opening of Century Casino Newcastle’s new resort facility with a grand opening gala on Saturday, December 2, 2006.

Century Casino Newcastle (formerly Monte Vista Casino & Conference Centre), situated in South Africa’s Kwazulu Natal Province, half-way between Durban and Johannesburg, is a one stop entertainment, leisure and conferencing destination. The property features 12,000 square feet of casino gaming floor, with six gaming tables, 250 slot machines, food and beverage amenities, a show stage, as well as a supervised kids entertainment area. The complex also includes a four star, 40 room hotel, meeting and conference facilities, as well as a spa and wellness center with a wide range of beauty and relaxation treatments.

During the opening gala, invited VIP guests like His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelethini, King of Kwazulu Natal, Dr. Jacob Zuma, Deputy President of the ANC, Mrs. Winnie Mandela and many other celebrities, political, radio and TV personalities, were treated to an entertainment extravaganza, which featured the likes of Afritude and The Three Black Tenors. The evening was concluded with a grand fireworks display. More than 5,000 people gathered outside and waited for the casino to open to the public, so that they could try their luck on the slot machines and tables. Even though the casino only opened its doors to the public at 9:30 hrs in the evening, it generated an average win/slot/day of $ 265 in the first two days.
