Poker at an international level – The finest players in the world come to Casino Baden

The world's finest poker players in the elegant surroundings of our Casino – this is on the cards for this year, from 2 to 4 October, when the 14th European Poker Championships will be held in Casino Baden near Vienna. As a matter of fact, this is the world’s largest Seven Card Stud Poker Tournament. The attendance limit this year has been set at 400 players who are expected to come from about 30 different countries to pit their poker skills against one another for a pot of EUR 650 000. A scale of event for which the imposing backdrop of Casino Baden is more than adequate. In short, this will be a festival of poker which would be hard to equal anywhere else in the world. The winners of previous European Poker Championships include some of the great poker names such as Phil Hellmuth, Paul Altermann and Lothar Landauer.

An event which started back in 1989 on a small scale with just 80 players has gradually developed over the years into a veritable Super Event for poker players from all over the world. From Day One, the underlying philosophy has been to stage a poker tournament at the highest possible level. This means that the European Poker Championship is surrounded by a range of additional attractions: physical well-being is superbly catered for with gourmet offerings from the leading gastronomers Do&Co, also responsible for catering at Formula 1 events.

For relaxation, the ladies can enjoy a free visit to the Roman Baths in Baden and professional interpreters are on hand to smooth away the multiplicity of language barriers. To ensure that the European Poker Championship runs smoothly, more than 200 casino staff are on duty 24 hours a day.

To get you in the mood for poker on your home PC, the final table will be webcast live via Internet on www.casinos.at – and anyone wishing to try their hand at a virtual poker game can do so at any time of the day or night on www.win2day.at, the online gaming platform provided by Casinos Austria and the lottery companies. As well as Draw Poker, players can test their luck in casino games such as Roulette, Black Jack, chicken Slot and Lucky Monsters.
