Mario Hoffmeister, who has worked for Gauselmann AG in Espelkamp as a PR-manager since 1 April 2002, has been ap-pointed deputy communications director as of 1 November 2005. In this position he will relieve and support the manager of corporate communications, Robert Hess.

Betting and gambling turnover in the German market amounts to ca. Euro 30-31 billion annually. The betting sector currently makes up 5%-10% of the total gambling market. Since several years many things have changed in regards to the structure of the German betting market. In the past the punter only had a chance to bet with two (more or less exiting) state offers and some heavy punters found their way to the limited number of private horse betting operators.

The time has finally come – after some delay, the final and decisive round in the fight for the German betting market will start on November 8 in Karlsruhe. The case before the Federal Constitutional Court (BverfG) will mark the final turning point in what has been an exciting year for the German betting industry. Never before in Germany has betting been discussed and written about as much as this year: Spiegel, Capital, Welt, ... all these major German news makers made the betting market one of their top subjects.

New study indicates that the size of the German betting market will grow from currently Euro 2.2 billion to about Euro 5 billion by 2010. In its new study the consulting company MECN examines the fast growing German betting market in detail and addresses many open questions about this industry sector.
In part the study is based on the results of a survey among industry experts conducted earlier this year.

Casinos Austria International today announced that it has been granted a license to conduct gaming activities in Belgium by the Belgian Gaming Commission. The awarding of this licence completes the legal requirements for the opening of the first casino in Brussels following the award of the concession by Brussels City Council to Casinos Austria International back in 2004.

The long established UK provider of amusement machines JPM and the german Gauselmann group concluded a far-reaching and future-oriented production cooperation agreement. The purpose of the agreement is to manufacture and deliver the AWP machines developed by JPM for the European market at the Gauselmann adp plant in Luebbecke, Germany. In the future, JPM will focus on inventing new gaming contents in this field and also intends to open up new areas for business activities.

Organisers of the International Casino Exhibition, which takes place at London’s Earls Court Exhibition Centre between 24th–26th January, have released details of at least 23 companies that will be making their first appearance within ICE and its i-gaming sector ICEi.
