Huddersfield Giants have signed a new sponsorship deal with Casinored.com for a second year. The deal will see the Casinored.com logo placed on the sleeves of the new 2008 Giants Super League shirts. Casino Red already offers online casino and poker, mobile bingo and casino, and has recently launched a full online and telephone sports betting service to add to its services. The company are also a main sponsor of Huddersfield Town, and Giants Director of Business Development Sean Jarvis believes this new deal is excellent news.
German VfB Stuttgart took a bit of a gamble and came out ahead. The club challenged the German law that banned casino sponsorship for clubs. An administrative court in Stuttgart ruled for the club, meaning they can again carry advertisements from BWIN, as well as get a shirt sponsorship.
The gambling industry has bowed to government pressure and agreed that the logos of betting companies should not be printed on children's replica football shirts. A new advertising code to be announced this week will commit gambling companies which sponsor Premiership clubs to remove their branding from children's kit. It will also restrict advertising before the 9pm watershed.
