On Friday 15th April 2011 The FBI and the US Department of Justice issues arrest warrants in the Southern District of New York to three companies (Poker Stars, Full Tilt, and Absolute Poker) engaged in the business of betting or wagering committing a federal crime to knowingly accept in connection with the participation of another person in unlawful Internet gambling, credit, electronic fund transfers, or cheques. Penalties range from five years imprisonment and up to USD 250,000 fine.
Port Canaveral, Florida - Hundreds of employees of a Port Canaveral casino cruise ship showed up for work Monday only to find out the Ambassador II has shut down and the employees have been laid off. The next time the Ambassador II sets sail, it will be to another port and the hundreds of employees who used to work on the ship are now left unemployed. "Everyone was just stunned. We were speechless," said former employee Debbie Bryant.

Memphis, Tennessee (AP) - A casino south of Memphis was shut down for almost 12 hours because a storm knocked out electricity. Harrah's Casino in Tunica, Mississippi, is back in business after lightning blew out a transformer. The Mississippi gaming commission told Harrah's to shut down because some of the casino's surveillance equipment was not working. The casino closed from 9:30 Monday night until 8 Tuesday morning.
Atlantic City, New Jersey - The city's 11 casinos would be able to temporarily police themselves if state government ever shuts down again under a bill being pushed by a state senator who is a former Atlantic City mayor. As tempting as that might sound for casinos to cut corners - or worse - while state inspectors are not on the job, the law would enable the governor to shut down a casino for serious wrongdoing.
Detroit - The Michigan Gaming Commission has ruled that it would have to suspend the operations of Detroit's three casinos if the state is forced to shut down when the budget expires next week. The board issued the temporary order today after hearing arguments in Detroit by the Michigan Gaming Control Board and casino representatives. Lawyers for Greektown Casino will scrutinize the order over the next 24 hours, spokesman Roger Martin said following the meeting.
