Louisville, Kentucky (January 20, 2009) – The Kentucky Court of Appeals today issued a ruling prohibiting the Franklin Circuit Court from enforcing its seizure order against the 141 domain names in the domain seizure case. The Court found that Internet domain names do not constitute a gambling device under Kentucky law and that the Franklin County Circuit Court clearly erred in concluding that the domain names can be construed to be gambling devices subject to forfeiture.

Chicago (Reuters) - The Kansas Supreme Court ruled on Friday that a gambling law allowing state-owned casinos and slot parlors is constitutional, upholding a previous ruling on the law. The case was filed in 2007 by former Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison on behalf of the state in an attempt to test the law's constitutionality and clear any potential legal hurdles. The ruling means plans for casinos and slots owned by the state can go forward.

The Kansas Supreme Court said today it will issue its ruling Friday on whether the state's expanded gambling law is constitutional. The law enacted last year allows four casinos that are owned and operated by the Kansas Lottery. A Shawnee County District Court judge upheld the statute in February. At issue, the Associated Press reported, is whether what the Legislature's definition of "state-owned and operated" casinos are that.
