Montreal – Seven seconds cost Joel Ifergan CAD 13.5 million, the Montreal-area man contends in a Quebec Superior Court civil lawsuit against Loto-Quebec. Ifergan is suing the provincial lottery body for that amount, claiming it’s how much he would have won in the May 23 Super Seven draw had the ticket he purchased been printed out on time. According to the suit, he bought two tickets for that night’s draw at a convenience store, one minute to spare before the 9 p.m. deadline.

Quebec racehorse trainer Marc Camirand has a pointed but inspired suggestion for Loto-Québec. Now that the provincial gaming corporation has apparently found a cure for problem gambling with its self-designed „ludoplex“ centres at the racetracks in Quebec City and Trois Rivières, Camirand says the socially responsible thing to do would be to also convert the Montreal Casino into a ludoplex.

Taking advantage of the poker room boom around the world, casinos in Quebec hope the province’s plan to legalize Texas hold ’em poker will bring in a full house. The new law will put Quebec casinos on a level playing field with some of the largest casinos in Ontario, and will also allow them to compete with a growing number of illegal gambling houses, two places where customers can already play the popular poker variant.
