Private group Codere has been granted the license, as part of consortium Garaipen Victoria Apustuak, of one of the licenses for the operation of sportsbooks in the Vasque Country, according to a press release. This consortium is a society comprised by a 67% of the joint venture between Codere & William Hill, while the 33% belongs to local partners, such as Gabascar and 27 Vasque oeprators of the private gambling sector.
The owners of all four of the state's pari-mutuel race tracks will be among the bidders for the three commercial gaming licenses proposed by Gov. Deval Patrick earlier this week. A multi-million-pound casino planned for Huddersfield has been given the green light by magistrates. Casino Red was yesterday granted a licence to turn the historic former Princess Cinema into a GBP 5m entertainment venue. The listed Northumberland Street building will offer a choice of games, including blackjack, roulette, a dedicated poker room and slots machines. The venue will also boast a restaurant and live entertainment facilities.
Camelot has been chosen as the preferred bidder for the latest licence to run the UK's National Lottery. The licence, the third in the lottery's history, will come into effect in February 2009 and last for 10 years. Camelot has run the National Lottery since its launch in 1994 and said it expected to conclude talks with the National Lottery Commission this month. Camelot had been facing competition from Indian company Sugal & Damani, which wanted to take over the lottery.
Majestic Star Casino paid its USD 50 million licensing fee Monday for a North Shore slot machine parlor and said it welcomed an expedited timetable for the state Supreme Court to consider arguments by Pittsburgh's sports teams about casino traffic. The Detroit-based casino company paid the fee to the state Gaming Control Board, a board spokesman confirmed. The Supreme Court earlier this month rejected appeals by two losing bidders, affirming the company's license.
Philadelphia - Companies planning casinos in the city are seeking to delay payment of USD 50 million licensing fees, saying they are still jumping through hoops to obtain the licenses. "We think it's only fair that we know we can open and operate a casino before we are asked to pay for the right to do so," said Dan Fee, a spokesman for SugarHouse Casinos, which proposes a slot machine facility in the Fishtown area.

By and large, the overall effect is that two existing pieces of legislation will be amalgamated.
