Denmark to end gambling monopoly

Denmark submitted in July a draft law to the European Commission with provisions to end the gambling monopoly and to liberalise the sports betting and online casino game market. Striking Developments in the Italian Gaming: Market Liberalisation Mission Accomplished

Gambling was banned in mainland China after the Communist takeover in 1949, the exceptions being two state lotteries - one of them run by the sports ministry to fund the building of facilities.

Legal framework for a liberalized gambling market

On June 11, 2008, the French Government announced it would open its gaming markets as a result of pressure from the European Commission. The main features of the new liberalized gaming law have been announced. However, because the legal process to open the French gaming market is still at a political stage, the new law is still an evolving work in progress and amendments are quite probable.
