Drei Jahre sollte der Sponsorenvertrag von Everest Poker mit Harrah’s Entertainment und der WSOP dauern, doch jetzt scheint der Deal zu platzen. Vor zwei Tagen berichtete die Las Vegas Sun, dass Everest Poker beim Bundesgericht in Las Vegas eine entsprechende Klage eingereicht hat. Everest Poker hat für den Sponsor-Deal mit der WSOP im Jahr 2008 USD 6.2 Millionen bezahlt. Im Jahr 2009 waren es USD 7.9 Millionen und in diesem Jahr sollten es USD 8.4 Millionen sein.

Wenige Tage nach Ende der zweiterfolgreichsten Saison in der Geschichte der World Series of Poker gab Jeffrey Pollack seinen Rücktritt bekannt. Als Grund nannte er, dass er auf der Suche nach neuen beruflichen Herausforderungen ist. In einer offiziellen Stellungnahme des Marktführers heißt es, dass derzeit kein Nachfolger für den Posten gesucht wird.

Nachdem letzte Woche bekannt gegeben wurde, daß bei Harrah’s ein neuer Geschäftsbereich für das Thema Online gegründet wurde, hat Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment (HIE), die Muttergesellschaft von Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. nun bestätigt, daß der neue Geschäftsbereich sein Hauptquartier außerhalb der USA haben wird und in Montreal/Kanada ansässig sein wird.

Der UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) wackelt. Nun wollen auch die Casino-Riesen ins Online Geschäft einsteigen. Gerüchten zufolge soll sich Harrah´s Entertainment bereits nach einem Kooperationspartner umsehen. Kein Wunder, dass sich die großen Casino-Ketten der USA über Online-Gaming Gedanken machen - es ist ein Milliardengeschäft. Die Einnahmen sind seit der Wirtschaftskrise rückläufig, da wäre ein neuer Geschäftszweig nur Recht und billig.

Harrah’s, the Las Vegas gaming group that owns Caesars Palace is to install Mitch Garber, a former chief executive of Party Gaming, as the head of a new company formed to house its internet operations and the popular World Series of Poker. The gaming giant is spinning these businesses out into a newly-created entity.

Harrah’s Entertainment’s Emerald Casino Resort, which owns a casino on the Vaal River south of Johannesburg, will “aggressively” challenge Gold Reef Resorts Ltd.’s plans to build a casino in the same area. “We know that they have been trying to get a license for a number of years,” Emerald’s CEO Martin Rice said in an interview from his mobile phone today. Emerald has previously opposed an application by Gold Reef, he said, and will “aggressively oppose any application for a license or attempt to build a casino.”

New York (Reuters) - Harrah's Entertainment Inc, one of the world's largest casino operators, said on Tuesday it could not guarantee that it will generate enough cash to meet its debt payments due to a deep recession. The operator of 53 casinos may not be able to borrow to fund its operations, and it may have to sell assets if it is unable to pay its debt, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

Harrah's Entertainment on Wednesday announced a plan to exchange USD 2.8 billion in bonds for new notes with an extended due date – the latest in a series of efforts to lower the company's mounting debt burden. If approved by bondholders, the offer is expected to buy the company more time as it navigates a recession that has pummeled earnings as debts come due. The new, second priority notes carry a 10 percent interest rate, mature in 2018 and are secured by Harrah's assets.

Add Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. to the list of Las Vegas gaming companies facing class-action lawsuits filed by securities lawyers. Harrah’s was sued last month in U.S. District Court in Delaware by two bondholders who claim a recent debt-exchange deal engineered by Harrah’s benefited some big corporate bondholders while placing other classes of bondholders in jeopardy, should Harrah’s default on its debt or file for bankruptcy protection.

Casino firm Harrah’s has been accused by its joint venture partner in a USD 2.6 billion Bahamas resort project of fraud in trying to end their deal to build the resort, according to a court filing. The dispute is over a deal announced in January 2007 between resort operator Baha Mar Resorts Ltd and casino company Harrah’s Entertainment to build a resort in the Bahamas. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc was to manage four hotels at the resort.

Las Vegas: Executives at top casino companies said Wednesday that the gambling business won't be the same for years to come as game makers and casino owners shift focus to properties that already exist from casinos still being planned. "One of the challenges that has plagued the casino industry for a long time is that we spend money like drunken sailors," said Gary Loveman, chairman and chief executive of Harrah's Entertainment Inc.

Harrah’s Gaming says it won’t build its planned USD 500 million casino and resort near Mulvane, the Kansas Lottery said Monday. In a news release, the lottery says a representative from the casino development company informed the agency of its decision this afternoon in a letter. Jeffrey Ungerer, of Sumner Gaming Joint Venture, wrote: “We truly regret that we must withdraw our gaming application as a result of circumstances beyond our control that do not permit us to meet the proposed schedule for the project.
