No injuries were reported. The fire destroyed a building across the street that housed retail shops, said commission spokesman Daniel Heneghan. At the headquarters, six large windows were blown out, and smoke caused some problems, he said.

Trenton, New Jersey - More than a year after New Jersey's wide-reaching public smoking ban went into effect, the state Senate voted Thursday to close its biggest loophole, which allows smoking in Atlantic City's casinos. The Senate voted 35-0 to eliminate the exemption that allows gamblers to light up in casinos and horse race simulcasting facilities. The Assembly has yet to consider the bill.

The dealers voted 316-268 Saturday against joining the United Auto Workers, according to casino and union representatives. "The Atlantic City Hilton respects the informed decision made by our dealers and hopes the UAW will do likewise," Tony Rodio, President of the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort, said in a statement issued early Sunday.
Las Vegas (Reuters) - New owners of Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. could help Atlantic City, the New Jersey casino town, if they upgrade the properties and generate more business for the area, the head of luxury mall owner Taubman Centers said on Monday. Taubman Centers has a shopping mall close to the Trump Plaza casino in the seaside resort town.
