The sight of backhoes and dirt piles at the SugarHouse casino site this week has angered a group of local archaeologists and historians, who say the excavation work could disturb potentially important relics. SugarHouse got permission from the Army Corps of Engineers on Aug. 1 to begin limited work to install test pilings, as well as to remove underground obstructions.
