Event #7: „The Muscle“ Wins Stud High-Low Split Championship at Beau Rivage

Biloxi, MS (January 8, 2009) – Event #7 was won by a professional player, Russ Salzer, who collected in his third major tournament since 2000. He was heads-up against second place Yuebin Guo who had a much smaller chip stack and it was only a matter of time before the bitter end. Salzer is 49 years of age, was 29th in the 2005 WSOP Championship and has also collected over USD 820,000 in career tournament winnings. Mel Rechtman who at 87 years old may be the oldest player to be in the finale of a major event. Mel is from Georgia and was paid USD 6,460 for his third place finish.

Fourth place went to Greg „Suki“ Suki. Being from Florida and a Gator fan, it was hard to keep his eyes off the national championship game. What a game that was! He is a primary online player and collected USD 4,845.

This tournament defines casual elegance. The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, MGM MIRAGE‘s destination resort is on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with 27 miles of white sugar sand beaches and a dream place to explore and play poker tournaments which have had over a one million dollars in payouts and there are still eight events to go. The events are getting bigger and bigger as the pros start to arrive. Hoyt Corkin, Timothy „TK“ Miles, Barry Greenstein, Gavin Smith, Clonie Gowen, Robert Williamson III, Erick Lindgren, Men the „Master“, Josh Ariah, Nguyen Eskimo Clark, and Bill Elder are reported in the building.
