John „the Razor“ Phan became the first person to win two World Series of Poker events this year.
He won Event No. 40: USD 2,000 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball, for the first prize of USD 151,896.
Phan outlasted a talented final table that included pro and author David Sklansky (6th) and Robert Mizrachi, brother of Michael, “The Grinder.” Former main event winner Greg Raymer finished 11th.
In Event No. 41, USD 1,500 Mixed Hold’em (Limit/No-Limit), Frank Gary won his first gold bracelet and the first prize of USD 219,562.
On Monday, just one final table concluded as Atlanta’s David Woo won Event No. 39, a USD 1,500 No-Limit Hold’em event for the top prize of USD 631,550
Only one final table is scheduled for today, Event No. 42, USD 1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold’em World Championship. Tom McEvoy, Men “The Master” Nguyen, and “Captain” Tom Franklin all made it to day two of the three day event but did not reach the final table.
