California’s share of the US Internet poker market was approximately USD 448m in 2009 with 778,000 active accounts and this revenue is going offshore causing a loss of income for California.

The Gaming Sub-Committee with Games and Draws of the House of Representatives refines the legal opinion about the law on the matter, which will not include table games, informed the coordinator of the legislative instance, Armando García Méndez. The Social Democrat legislator anticipated that the Sub-Committee will do anything possible to have the report ready the following week, to present it to the tribune to be debated.

Los Angeles (Reuters) - MGM Mirage reported a fourth-quarter loss of USD 1.15 billion on Tuesday as gambling demand declined, and it wrote down impaired assets, sending its shares down 3 percent in extended trade. The No. 2 casino operator also said its banks had agreed to waive debt covenants through May 15. MGM, grappling with weak demand from recession-weary consumers and a credit market crisis, warned earlier in March that auditors had substantial doubt about the company's ability to continue as a going concern.

GamblingAnalysts.eu, working as a long-time scientific research institute and gambling analyst in Europe, finished a study on the gambling industry in North Cyprus. Until now, no such research has been executed in North Cyprus. The gambling industry – casinos, (sports) betting, internet & mobile betting – is at this moment regulated and professionalized in North Cyprus. New serious players have entered the market and at present there are 23 casinos!

A comprehensive report on casinos said the state could reap USD 596.7 million in total annual government revenues if state legislators legalized three destination casinos. The report was released by the administration of Governor Deval L. Patrick. It was completed by Spectrum Gaming Group of Linwood. In the past, Spectrum has worked for casinos and governments around the world.

In the UK, the Gambling Commission has released a report detailing its activities over the past twelve months that revealed it approved 3,428 operators with 4,199 operating licenses. Arnold Schwarzenegger recently joined a group of residents and the county in criticizing an environmental report produced by the Pauma Band of Mission Indians on a planned USD 300 million casino and hotel. An attorney for the governor said in a letter dated September 21 that the tribe’s report is incomplete and not supported by sufficient analysis or evidence. The letter said that the tribe has not adequately addressed the project’s effects on water usage, community aesthetics or police and fire services.
