Greek authorities have raided a sports betting outlet in central Athens belonging to Britain’s Stanleybet, only a week after it began to operate in a challenge to the Greek state-owned gaming monopoly, known as OPAP. The decision is likely to reignite argument about lack of access for private gaming companies that want to provide sports betting services in several European Union markets where lucrative monopolies exist.

Kathmandu: Staff of the city's famous casinos on Saturday were up in arms in protest against alleged police highhandedness at one of the seven super joints last night, which left over two dozen staff members injured. Over 6,000 employees of the city's seven casino's took to streets to protest the incident at a time when the capital city is looking forward to influx of more tourists and clients, to turn the tide for these gaming houses, which have worn a forlorn look for the past few years.

Macau - Police seized betting slips worth about 64 million dollars during a raid on an illegal gambling syndicate believed to be the largest ever uncovered in the former Portuguese colony, a media report said Sunday. Agents arrested three men from Hong Kong and three from Macau aged between 32 and 51 during the raid Saturday night, the South China Morning Post reported.
Gauteng police are hunting for a gang of heavily-armed men who opened fire at the Carnival City Casino in Brakpan on the East Rand early this morning. At least three people have been wounded in the shooting. Thousands of people were at Carnival City for the Air Supply concert at the time. Two policewomen on patrol in the area happened to spot the armed men.
