Isle of Capri Casinos said consultation had begun with employees with regard to the possible sale or closure of the site at the Ricoh Arena. It is blaming the "restrictive regulatory landscape in the UK" after only being granted the license in 2005 and opening the casino a year later. The Ricoh Arena said it is confident of finding a new domestic operator.
Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. said Monday it has rebranded itself to create two “distinct” gaming experiences. Lady Luck has been reintroduced as the brand for the company's casino-serving local markets, with construction on the first Lady Luck-branded properties approaching completion in Caruthersville, Mo., and Marquette, Iowa. The Isle brand has been designed to feature regional facilities with hotel rooms and convention facilities aimed at both business and leisure travelers.
Bernard “Bernie” Goldstein, chairman of the board and former chief executive of Isle of Capri Casinos Inc., was inducted this week into the Gaming Hall of Fame. Touted as the “father of riverboat gaming,” Goldstein lobbied for the original riverboat gaming legislation in Iowa and opened the nation’s first riverboat casino there in 1991. He also opened the first riverboat casino in the South in Biloxi, Miss. in 1992.
Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. said Monday that Hurricane Ike damaged its Lake Charles, La., casino. The storm created a record-high storm surge, which damaged some of the entrance and exit ramps at the L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort. Pinnacle’s construction team is working with structural engineers and marine experts to inspect and repair the ramps so the company can reopen the casino as quickly as possible, Pinnacle said.
St. Louis (AP) -- Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. on Tuesday said its casino property in Davenport, Iowa, will open at 3 p.m. following its temporary closure due to flooding. "The flood waters have receded allowing safe access to our property for guests and employees," Mo Hyder, vice president and general manager, said in a statement. It is the second time the casino was closed because of flooding, following an earlier closure in May.
