Harrah’s Entertainment and Sumner Gaming and Resorts announced their proposal for a destination resort to be located in Sumner County, Kansas, which was submitted to the Sumner County Commission today for its consideration. Subject to certain customary conditions and receipt of corporate approvals, the proposal was also submitted earlier this month to the Kansas State Lottery for their review.

Casino and bingo operator Rank has rejected an approach from US casino giant Harrah’s Entertainment, Britain’s Telegraph newspaper reported. Without citing sources, the paper said Rank rebuffed the deal, which saw Harrah’s effectively offer to swap its own UK casinos for a 28 percent stake in the enlarged Rank. A spokesman for Rank declined to comment, Harrah’s could not be reached for comment.

It is customary for the county to extend deadlines when property owners are making progress at fixing code violations but can’t comply in 30 days, a county spokeswoman said.
