They are owned by LOT, the Polish airline, and by the Polish Airports Authority, which have indicated a willingness to sell their interests. It is expected that the casinos will be sold in the first half of the year and, according to speculation in Poland, the contenders will be Century Casinos, Olympic and Thunderbird.

Several firms are interested in Casinos Poland. Potential buyers for its majority stake have not been invited to take part in negotiations yet. According to unofficial sources, however, the ministry of the treasury wants the privatization to be conducted as soon as possible. It won’t be easy to acquire a majority stake at the gambling company, but Austrian Century Casinos will have the final say.

Airport operator PPL and national airline LOT speed up the talks on disposing of a 66% stake in Casinos Poland (CP), evaluated at [[PLN]] 100 million. The firms are negotiating with a few entities, including Olympic Entertainment Group (OEG) and Austrian Century Casinos, owner of the remainder stake in CP. "Talks concern the final price and terms. Today, the casino is not only assets, but also a brand, market share, location and license," said a source close to the negotiations.

Century Casinos, Inc. announced that its 33.3% subsidiary, Casinos Poland Ltd., will host the premier European Poker Tour (EPT) event in Poland, the Polish Open 2008, from March 11 to 15, 2008, at the company's casino at the Hyatt Hotel in Warsaw. The Polish Open is a five-day Texas Hold' Em No Limit tournament and will follow the standard structure for all EPT4 five-day events. Buy-in is 21,000 zlotys (approx. USD 8,600) and the total prize pool can reach 8,000,000 zlotys (approx. USD 3,280,000).
