MGM Mirage said building costs for the 30 hectare CityCenter development on the Strip had increased USD 400 million to USD 7.8 billion. The board issued the temporary order today after hearing arguments in Detroit by the Michigan Gaming Control Board and casino representatives. Lawyers for Greektown Casino will scrutinize the order over the next 24 hours, spokesman Roger Martin said following the meeting.

Harrisburg -- The state's five new racetrack casinos, including The Meadows in Washington County, could be shut down as soon as July 7 if Gov. Ed Rendell can't reach agreement with state legislators on a new USD 27 billion budget for 2007-08. Sixteen Revenue Department employees who run the central casino control computer aren't considered "essential" by the Rendell administration, but the thousands of slots players who flock to the state's five casinos each day would probably disagree.

Trenton, New Jersey (AP) - The Assembly on Monday approved a bill designed to keep Atlantic City casinos open in the event of another state government shutdown like the one that halted gambling last year. Casinos closed last July when the Legislature and Gov. Jon S. Corzine failed to agree on a budget by the July 1 constitutional deadline, leaving the state without means to spend money.
