Former Casinos Austria Head of Poker joins Global Poker Tours team

London, UK – August 18 – Global Poker Tours Limited today announced that Edgar Stuchly has been appointed the new European Poker Tour President, responsible for developing Europe’s leading live poker tour. Stuchly will act as an official spokesperson for the EPT, helping refine the vision for the tour, working to further improve the customer experience for the many thousands of players from around the world who participate in the events, and growing the brand across more countries in Europe.

Stuchly, who has almost 20 years’ experience in the poker industry, joins from Casinos Austria, where he was Head of Poker for four years. In his time there he managed poker rooms at 12 casinos, as well as the European Poker Championships, and founded the Casinos Austria Poker Tour (CAPT). In 2009 he was also recognised as ‘Poker Staff Person of the Year’ for his contributions to the live poker industry in Europe.

“The EPT is the richest and most prestigious poker tour in Europe, and I’m delighted to be joining a much-loved and well-run live tour,” said Stuchly. “The goal now is to take the EPT to another level, in terms of improving the experience for players and expanding the tour into burgeoning poker markets in Europe. It’s a big challenge but one that I’m relishing.”

John Duthie and the EPT

EPT Chairman and the tour’s original founder, John Duthie, said: “Edgar’s extensive live poker experience and vision for the EPT eased his appointment significantly. I’m sure that players, fans and anyone connected to the EPT will feel the benefits of his leadership over the coming months and years.”

The EPT, which is now in its eighth season, began in Tallinn, Estonia at the start of August. The next event is Barcelona from August 27 to September 1, which is one of the most popular stops of the tour, and regularly awards a first prize of nearly €1 million.
