Last week's event was a great success, with many highly informative sessions and expert speakers.
As promised, we are sharing video recordings of some of the conference presentations, including the keynote speeches by Nadja Wierzejewski, Head of Enforcement at the Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL) and René Jansen, Chair of the Netherlands Gambling Authority.
Ms. Wierzejewski discussed, among other topics, the GGL's approach to enforcement, including the regulator's powers, priorities, and processes. She declared that the GGL's goal was “100% channelization” and, speaking of illegal operators, said that the GGL eventually “would get them all.”
Mr. Jansen detailed his experiences with the recent opening of the regulated online market in the Netherlands. He warned that Germany, too, could be subjected to an “bombardment” of gambling advertising if appropriate measures were not taken, thus potentially undermining public and political support for market liberalization.
The keynote speeches were followed by a conversation between the two regulators that was moderated by Birgitte Sand, CEO of Birgitte Sand & Associates and former Executive Director of the Danish Gambling Authority.
The following video recordings are currently available:
- Keynote speech #1: Nadja Wierzejewski, Head of Enforcement, GGL
- Illegal gambling & enforcement: Nadja Wierzejewski, Head of Enforcement, GGL
- Keynote speech #2: René Jansen, Chair, Netherlands Gambling Authority
- Regulators in dialogue (Panel discussion): Nadja Wierzejewski, René Jansen, Birgitte Sand
Additional videos will be released next week. Stay tuned!
