Mount Airy casino seeks DeNaples cash

Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania – The state-appointed trustee running Mount Airy Casino Resort wants indicted owner Louis DeNaples to pay some of the casino’s bills.

An amended petition filed today with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board asks that Louis DeNaples, the resort’s owner, could provide cash if it were needed for real estate taxes and other obligations.

The resort also is asking that DeNaples be allowed to supply cash for capital projects, such as the refurbishment of the golf course and construction of a swimming pool.

DeNaples has indicated that he remains fully supportive of Mount Airy, the trustee said.

Gaming regulators barred DeNaples from setting foot inside his casino after he was charged in January with lying about his alleged ties to organized crime figures. He has pleaded innocent.

Anthony Ceddia has been overseeing the casino in DeNaples‘ absence. He has petitioned the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to allow DeNaples to contribute money toward the casino’s operations.

The petition cites a „challenging economic and financial environment.“ It says Mount Airy’s cash problems are restricting its ability to make capital improvements and pay expenses.

In June, the board approved a USD 55 million infusion from DeNaples after credit rating agencies downgraded the casino’s bonds.
