CIE will pay more than USD 57 million in taxes and will open 20 new centers

Corporación Mexicana de Entretenimiento (CIE) will pay a total of USD 57,341,093 as a Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) in the segment of Games and Draws during this year, revealed Jaime Zebada, Financial Director of the company.

„The USD 57,341,093 tax is a percentage on the sales of games and draws and goes directly to the cost of the sales of the company“, explained the executive.

In 2007, the authorities gave green light for the company to add 20 more units to its system of games and draws, comprised by 45 gambling venues. Zebada indicated that, during the year, the company will open units whose investments will be between USD 2.5 to 3 million (MD), but also in those that will not require further payments.

„As long as we are growing (in this business) we will be developing the customized concept, in which the needs will have to do with size and location“, said Zebada. CIE first started to be involved in this activity in 1997.

In Mexico, the games and draws industry has a capacity equivalent to 30,000 electronic bingo machines, although several analysis of the sector indicate that the activity will achieve its high point when it reaches a level of 180,000 machines.

The segment of Games and Draws of CIE has, as direct competence, the Play City system of Televisa and Caliente Group.
