Boom time for UK online bingo industry

The UK online bingo authority website BingoPort.co.uk, released data showing that Internet bingo use in the United Kingdom has increased significantly over the past six months.

The report shows that since September 2007 the average daily player numbers across all UK focused online bingo operators has increased by around 19%.

„I don’t think this increase has taken anyone that works in the online bingo industry by surprise,“ said BingoPort.co.uk Managing Director and co-founder, Scott Logan. „As the only company here in the UK collecting industry wide data, we’ve seen this coming for quite a while.“

The main factor in the rise, according to Logan, is the proliferation of bingo operators taking their message into mainstream media via extensive marketing campaigns after the UK authorities relaxed their strict TV advertising policies for gambling just six months ago.

„What we have today is the big online bingo clubs, such as Foxy Bingo, Sun Bingo, Gala Bingo, Ladbrokes Bingo and the newly opened 888 Ladies, aggressively using media to acquire players in order to gain a foothold in the growing marketplace,“ said Logan. „We expect this to continue for some time yet.“

As the only company monitoring the UK online bingo industry 24 hours a day 7 days a week, BingoPort.co.uk also acts as a meeting place for online bingo players providing free bingo, forums, news, reviews, competitions and prizes.

„With such a large community of bingo players, we’re able to get feedback from them on a daily basis about which bingo sites they play at and why. We’re seeing a trend for these players to be members of multiple bingo sites, with a tendency to follow the best promotions and jackpots.“

When looking at the online bingo market for the rest of 2008, Logan is bullish about its prospects: „As we look toward summer, the traditional slow period in the online gambling space, we expect the industry growth to drop with further increases being seen from September onwards.“
