A group of representatives, like Alcibíades Vázquez, is working on the creation of a a bill to allow the reassessment of tender process for the opening and operation of casinos and gambling venues in Panama Republic.

Vászquez considered the increment of people with gambling problems was worrying, as well as social consequences for the families.

During 2007, players spent around USD 840 million in gross income in casinos that operate in Panama. This figure reflects a 13.5% growth regarding 2006.

For Vázquez, it is a social problem the fact that Panamenians are spending their salaries in games of chance.
