Isle of Man Chief Minister, Tony Brown on Friday announced the appointment of the Chairman, and a new member, of the Gambling Supervision Commission.
It emerged that Claire Milne, a qualified solicitor and Manx advocate had been appointed Chairman of the Commission, replacing outgoing Chairman, Jane O’Rourke.
Mrs Milne has a background in intellectual property, IT Law and data protection, including e-money, e-commerce and e-gaming.
It was also announced that well known local advocate, Jerry Carter, had been appointed a member of the Commission.
The Chief Minister, in unveiling the new appointments, stated that:
“The recent placing of the Isle of Man on the United Kingdom “white list”, which allows Isle of Man based e-Gaming companies to market in the UK, has highlighted the importance of the e-Gaming sector to the Isle of Man economy.“
„The regulator of the sector, that is the Gambling Supervision Commission, has an important and high profile role to undertake in ensuring that the sector is effectively regulated. I am therefore delighted to be able to announce that we have been successful in appointing such high calibre individuals.”
