Svenska Spel released a new system to minimise gambling addiction

Sweden gaming company Svenska Spel, which offers sportsbook, lottery site, poker room, casino site and bingo room, announced that it has subscribed to intelligent software that claims to minimise gambling addiction.

The system, created by Sweden’s ICU Intelligence, analyses the betting habits of each player, how much money they place on bets, the conditions under which they bet and the frequency with which they wager their money.

The system is voluntary, and is currently designed to scrutinise online gambling, an increasingly popular pastime in the country, and bets placed through personal Svenska Spel betting cards.

ICU, which has plans to roll out the system to casinos in the future, claims tests have demonstrated that the system identifies problem gamblers in 90 percent of cases.

Svenska Spel has outlined that once the system has labelled a person as being at risk, it will to block betting advertising to that person, encourage them to revise their gambling habits, help them to earmark a gambling budget, and direct players to undergo a test for gambling addiction.
