After months of quiet preparation behind the scenes, the time has finally come: today, ISA-GUIDE is launching the most comprehensive and ambitious editorial project in its more than 25-year history. We take you on an epic journey through the fascinating world and hidden history of gambling.

We will not only report on current court rulings and legislation, as you have come to expect from us. We will dig deeper. Much deeper. In over 70 reports, we will tell the stories that often remain hidden and reveal the true origins of an industry that is now worth billions.

What can you expect in the coming months?

We open the doors to the magnificent gaming rooms of Versailles, where kings decided the hierarchy at the card table. We sail the seven seas with pirates who gambled for gold and doubloons. We will immerse ourselves in the smoky taverns of the Middle Ages, where gambling was as dangerous as sword fighting, and we will reveal the secrets of the visionaries who built Las Vegas from the desert sand.

From the croupiers in Baden-Baden to the high rollers in Macau to the legends who risked their fortunes in Monte Carlo – we tell their stories.

A mirror of our present: From the Middle Ages to the State Treaty on Gaming

But this journey into the past is also a direct mirror of our present. We will discover that today's rift in the gaming world, the bitter battle over the State Treaty on Gaming, licenses, and the channeling of the market, is not a new phenomenon.

As early as the Middle Ages, cities issued bans that pushed dice games from taverns into back rooms. The church branded gambling a sin, while princes profited from it at the same time. It is the same eternal conflict between protecting the player and economic interests, between prohibition and migration into illegality, that preoccupies us today.

Our series shows that today's problems are hundreds of years old. We provide the historical depth needed to truly understand the current debates.

Join us on this unique journey!

The first report in the series “Gambling on Cruise Ships” will be published next Tuesday.
