London – The Gambling Business Group (GBG), whose members account for approaching 70% of UK Gross Gaming Yield, has confirmed that it will be using next week’s ICE event (2-4 February, ExCeL Centre, London) to host senior members of the Gambling Team from the Department of Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS).

GBG Chief Executive, Peter Hannibal, believes that the UK industry is at a critical phase of regulatory change. He explained: „It is vital that the DCMS appreciate fully and understand the full implications of the manyproposed changes, including any potential unintended consequences.

„There are a number of key issues on the agenda, not least the controversial Gambling Commission consultation on controlling where gaming machines may be played, the timetable for the Triennial Review of machines stakes and prizes, the pending publication of the Gambling Commission’s Anti Money Laundering risk assessment on individual sectors of the industry and the results of the review of the revised £50 staking criteria for B2 machines and the implications for any review of stakes and prizes.“

He added: „It is vital the UK industry engages with DCMS to ensure they have as much information as possible before instigating or approving any changes and ICE is the world’s premier showcase for gaming and the best opportunity to facilitate this interaction.

„The Gambling Business Group and its members, all of whom are either exhibitors at or visitors to ICE, are delighted to once again be able to host the DCMS at international gaming’s flagship event.“

Kate Chambers, Managing Director responsible for ICE, said: „We have always set out to work with the many sectors of gaming to help achieve their strategic objectives. The Gambling Business Group, led by Peter Hannibal, is one of a number of respected industry bodies that we work alongside and I look forward to welcoming the Gambling Team from the DCMS to ICE next week.“
