German Casinos do Not Join Online Operators to Press Government

Counter statement of the Federal Association of private Casinos in Germany (Bundesverband privater Spielbanken in Deutschland e.V., BupriS) re. Gambling Compliance report on World Regulatory Briefing

Hereby the Federal Association of private Casinos in Germany contradicts misrepresentations of Gambling Compliance, published on www.gamblingcompliance.com on the 4th of July under the headline “German Casinos, Bookmakers Join Online Operators to Press Government”.

BupriS_logo_full In the text re. the World Regulatory Briefing which took place in Frankfurt/ Germany on the 27th of June Gambling Compliance reports German land-based gambling operators had agreed last week that they need to start working together with the online gambling industry for the first time to counter the effect of a tax regime that hurts both sides of the industry.

In this context, Martin Reeckmann, chairman of the Federal Association of Private Casinos in Germany is quoted with the words: “We have been talking at each other; it`s right we all talk with each other.”

As to that the Federal Association of private Casinos clarifies: the Quotation in the named context is wrong. There is no planned cooperation between the private land-based Casinos and the online operators and the quotation referred to exclusively related to the relationship between land-based casinos and gambling halls.

The Federal Association of private Casinos refuses to tolerate such – obviously intented – misrepresentations.
