International atmosphere at European Poker Championship

New schedule allows time for champagne breakfast

The 15th European Poker Championship from 6 to 9 October 2004, which will once again attract the best poker players from over 30 countries to Casino Baden, has been revamped. The world’s most important Seven Card Stud tournament will start this year on a Wednesday, with preliminary rounds taking place until Friday.

„Golden Saturday“ offers a further eight participants the bonus opportunity to join the 72 finalists qualifying for the Super Final, which starts at 5 pm. The winners can then celebrate their success in fine style at a champagne breakfast starting at 8 am on Sunday.
Enthusiasts can also follow the final from the comfort of their own homes during the live Internet transmission at http://live.casinos.at.

This year again, participation will be limited to 400 players, who will compete for a prize pool of EUR650,000 – a dimension for which the impressive setting of Casino Baden is ideally suited. Previous winners have included renowned poker greats such as Phil Hellmuth, Paul Altermann and Lothar Landauer.
The Championship, held for the first time on a much more modest scale with just 80 contestants in 1989, has developed over the years into a mega-event for poker players from all over the world. The philosophy has always been to present a tournament at the highest possible level. To achieve this, the Championship is accompanied by top gastronomy from the celebrated DO&CO. Professional interpreters are on hand to smooth out any language problems and over 200 casino staff are available day and night to deal with the organizational side.
