Never Fold: PPA Unites Poker Players for One Year Anniversary of “Black Friday”

This April 15, 2012, marks the one-year anniversary of Black Friday, the day the U.S. government shutdown three major online poker sites in the U.S. In a continued effort to raise awareness of the impact of this day, the Poker Players Alliance (PPA), the leading poker grassroots advocacy group with more than one million members nationwide, is uniting players across the country with a renewed urgency to voice their frustration directly to Congress.

The PPA transformed its website this week with a call to action for players to “never fold in the fight for America’s greatest card game”. Through the website, players can connect directly to their Congressional representatives, show their support through social media and download and share the Black Friday Poker Chip logo. In addition, the PPA is holding a “Never Fold” Money Bomb fundraiser during the week leading up to Black Friday’s anniversary, urging Americans to donate to the PPA’s advocacy efforts and join the cause.

Experts available to discuss the significant impact Black Friday has had on the lives of poker playing Americans and the efforts to license and regulate online poker in the U.S. include:

  • Former Senator Alfonse D’Amato, PPA Chairman
  • Greg Raymer, 2004 World Series of Poker Champ
  • Select Members of Congress
  • John Pappas, Executive Director of the PPA
