More fake chips found at casino

Another six counterfeit gaming chips have been discovered at Crown casino.

The number of fake AUD 1000 chips found since the con was revealed last week by the Herald Sun has risen to 42.

And another 1400 chips worth AUD 1.4 million remain unaccounted for – all of a AUD 1000 denomination.

The missing chips are believed to be either lost, uncashed or circulating in the community.

The scam was discovered by an eagle-eyed staffer working inside the high-security chip-counting room last Thursday.

„These were the highest-quality fakes ever seen. They actually had to cut one in half to know for sure,“ a source said.

Police are investigating and casino surveillance teams have begun reviewing hours of gaming table video footage in a bid to track down the counterfeiting masterminds.
