Atlantic City, New Jersey – A New Jersey congressman says the USD 787 billion federal stimulus package is hurting the casino industry in Atlantic City.

U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo wants to change a provision in the stimulus law passed in February that bans the use of money that benefits casinos or other gaming establishments.

LoBiondo says Atlantic City is losing millions of dollars in business as a result of the provision.

At a news conference in front of Boardwalk Hall Friday, LoBiondo noted that if the Atlantic City Workforce Investment Board holds a job fair at a casino, it would lose all its stimulus money.

He said he’s also trying to get the Obama administration to allow stimulus funds to be used for beach replenishment.
