General Manager takes moral responsibility, asks workers to call off protests

Kathmandu – Taking moral responsibility of the October 24 incident at Casino Anna, in which the casino employees retaliated an intended police raid and beaten up a policeman, General Manager of the Casino Anna Ram Krishna Chakradhar, asked the casino workers to call of all protest programmes Sunday afternoon.

Talking to the media outside the Metropolitan Police Division in the capital today, Chakradhar said that though he was not present at the office at the time of incident he takes the moral responsibility of it.

Meanwhile, the police have started the process for his release. Chakradhar was detained by the police for interrogation since yesterday.

Meanwhile, employees of casinos staged demonstrations at different places in the capital today demanding the release of the GM.
Jamal, Ratnapark, Lazimpat, Durbarmarg and other neighbouring places wore a tense look this morning following clash between the protestors and the police.

Vehicular movement was affected in the area.

The protestors also staged a sit-in outside the Metropolitan Police Division in Hanuman Dhoka.

Yesterday, the police arrested Chakradhar from Lazimpat at around 1 pm in connection with the October 24 incident.

Protesting the arrest, casino employees staged demonstrations at Metropolitan Police Division in the capital last evening also.

The casino employees have been taking to streets since the police interference at the Casino Anna on October 24 suspecting Nepalis were gambling there.

Meanwhile, talks held between the casino workers and the security body for Chakradhar’s release had ended without conclusion yesterday evening.
