The Victorian Government has awarded Tattersalls a licence to run a mid-week lotto game over rival Intralot.

The lottery will run on Monday and Wednesday nights in several states.

The new games are in addition to the nation-wide lotteries already run by Tattersalls on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights.

Intralot has struggled to gain a foothold in the Victorian gambling industry since breaking Tattersalls‘ monopoly on lotteries.

But the Gaming Minister Tony Robinson says that did not affect the Government’s decision to award the licence to Tattersalls.

„This was a game that fell between the two categories that were offered up during the relicencing period,“ he said.

„And since the two companies, Tatts and Intralot gained their licences, both have made an application to fill that space.

„The Government has evaluated those applications and we’ve made a determination that Tattersals should be allowed to proceed with the reintroduction of the game,“ he said.

The Minister said the Government wants to encourage greater competition and innovation in the lottery industry.
