The Chairman Tower at Trump Taj Mahal will open in time for Labor Day weekend. The USD 225 million tower will welcome the first guests on Friday.

„We also have the largest bathroom in town with double vanities and a lot of luxurious marble and big, large steam showers,“ said Mark Juliano, CEO of Trump Entertainment Resorts.

The Chairman tower is the latest addition to Atlantic City’s skyline, following Harrah’s Waterfront Tower and Borgata’s Water Club Hotel. The Taj Mahal opened with much fanfare in 1990 but eventually became worn and dated.

Now, the original purples, pinks and other décor some people describe as gaudy are being replaced with a warmer, more casual look, Trump officials said.

The upgrades come at a time when Atlantic City’s casinos, including the Taj Mahal, are dealing with falling gaming revenue and competition in Pennsylvania and New York. Harrah’s and the Borgata were Atlantic City’s only casinos to see gaming revenues increase last month.

Trump executives hope the expansion will help increase business. „We, for a long time, have been saying the future of the town is to transform it into a place where people will come and stay for two or three days, not just come and play in the casino for a few hours,“ Juliano said.

Rates for standard rooms and suites in the tower range from USD 129 to USD 1,000 a night. The first 20 stories are scheduled to open this weekend. The rest will open by the end of the year. „It’s a great room product that the Taj Mahal has desperately needed,“ Joe Polisano, of Trump Entertainment Resorts.
