Turkey releases Sportingbet man

London (ShareCast) – A Sportingbet employee detained by Turkish authorities in May has been released without charge, although a second member of staff remains in jail following an unsuccessful appeal.

Bail was refused the second worker who continues to be held in custody awaiting formal charges.

„The group continues to offer him support and is seeking clarification about when and what charges, if any, will be bought,“ said the online gaming group in a statement late Monday.

The pair, both in middle management, were held on their return home to Turkey for a break over the May bank holiday weekend.

A larger number of individuals related to the Superbahis sports-betting and casino games site are also been detained, as are others related to Maslin Properties, Sportingbet’s former marketing partner in the region.

The company, which has been reducing its reliance on the Turkish market over recent months, said net gaming revenue (NGR) from the country accounted for about 14% of group NGR in the third quarter versus 26% in the second quarter.
