€ 100.000,- for the Poker Champion at Casino Velden

€ 1 million prize pool played for at CasinoVelden.

The face of a visitor to Velden generally carries a big contented smile, provided the weather is appropriate and Wörthersee has comfortable temperatures for a swim, of course. In the week of 13 to 20 July, however, a darker expression dominated this Carinthian town, for at the CAPT Velden, the Casinos Austria Poker Tour, it was necessary to keep a pokerface.

It was particularly tense from 18 to 20 July, the two final days. A match of Seven Card Stud which lasted for many hours was played Friday for prize money totalling EUR 28,220. Not before the wee hours of the morning did Severin Walser of Switzerland prevail over Croat Dragan Galic and Austrian Helmut Freudenschuss. On Sunday the big Texas Hold’em Freezeout final was on the agenda, with Austrian Stefan Rapp winning no less than EUR 95,420 in the deciding game against Hungarian Andras.

Both event halls – the Casineum and the Casineum on the Lake – provided 500 international players with a wonderful setting for this Poker tournament.

Well-known television and Casino Velden chef Marcel J. Vanic catered to the appetites of the Poker pros, while numerous hard-working casino employees ensured perfect service and a smooth game, helping to make this Poker event into a unique event.
